The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has honored Loyola University’s Institute of Environmental Sustainability (Chicago) as one of its 2015 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners. Loyola’s student-run Searle Biodiesel Lab makes soap from glycerin, a co-product with biodiesel production. EPA recognized the students’ innovative work incorporating the soap into the University’s zero-waste biodiesel production and across campus where it is used in all restrooms. For more information and to purchase the soap in a 55-gallon drum, visit: http://www.luc.edu/sustainability/initiatives/biodiesel/lab/
