Fast Knockdown, Solid Blanket Stops Skid Steer Loader Fire in Grain Storage

SoyFoam™ TF 1122’s fast knockdown and smothering capabilities protected a grain storage unit as well as firefighters at a farm where a skid steer loader caught fire while being used to move corn. As the first fire department in the nation to switch to SoyFoam™ in 2024, the Corydon, Kentucky Civil Defense Fire & Rescue was ready for the urgent call to a farm this April.

Grain storage fires are unpredictable and can trigger explosions too. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard, specifically NFPA 654, states that dust particles smaller than 500 microns (0.5 mm) are considered combustible dust and can pose a fire and explosion hazard when dispersed and ignited. SoyFoam™ is a wetting / smothering agent capable of extinguishing Class A (ordinary combustibles) and Class B (flammable liquids) fires.

The Corydon crew was able to put down a solid blanket while using a ProPac at 3% solution. Made with U.S.-grown soybeans, SoyFoam™ offers a sustainable and effective alternative to conventional foams—delivering performance without PFAS.
