Columbia Forest Products Introduces FireBrand™ Class A Fire-Rated Veneer Core Platform

Columbia Forest Products has launched FireBrand™, a third-party certified Class A fire-rated veneer core platform designed for interior wall and ceiling applications. The new platform expands Columbia Forest Products’ product offering made with soy protein while meeting ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC S102.18 Class A requirements.

Available with decorative hardwood veneer faces and featuring Columbia’s PureBond formaldehyde-free technology, FireBrand™ combines fire performance with the natural beauty and versatility of real hardwood plywood. Manufactured in the United States, the platform is now available throughout North America.

“When companies like Columbia Forest Products choose soy-based technology for innovative building materials, they’re creating new opportunities for soybean farmers while delivering products that meet real-world performance needs. It’s exciting to see U.S. soy helping advance solutions that are safer, sustainable and made here at home,” said Barry Alexander, a Kentucky soybean farmer and United Soybean Board farmer-leader.

In 2007, Columbia’s PureBond® technology received the Greener Synthetic Pathways Award presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the replacement of formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen, with a soy protein-based alternative.
