Goodyear Continues to Increase Number of Tire Lines Containing Soybean Oil

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company offers a variety of tire lines that contain a soybean oil compound. This builds upon the company’s more-than-a-decade relationship with U.S. soybean growers through their soy checkoff program.

“Soybean farmers are incredibly proud of how the United Soybean Board and Goodyear have combined innovation and agriculture to provide tires with soybean oil to consumers worldwide,” says Brent Gatton, USB Vice Chair and farmer from Kentucky.

USB supported Goodyear research and product development that demonstrated that soybean oil could improve tire flexibility at low temperatures in consumer tires, helping the rubber to remain pliable in cold weather and enhancing traction in rain and snow. Goodyear increased its use of soybean oil by 9.9 percent in 2023 over 2022. Goodyear offers the following tires with soybean oil in their compounds.

  • Assurance WeatherReady™, introduced in 2017, and WeatherReady™2, Goodyear’s newest product introduced this year. The Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady 2 is a tire that delivers excellent all-weather performance backed by industry-leading test results in wet handling, wet braking and dry handling. The Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady 2 tire has set a new performance standard for all-season tires, making it the perfect choice for an all-weather solution.
  • Goodyear ElectricDrive™ 2, an all-season electric vehicle (EV) tire enhanced  with sustainable materials[1], improved rolling resistance[2] and long-lasting tread life to maximize drivers’ EV performance. The new ElectricDrive™ 2 is the latest step in Goodyear’s sustainability maturity and contains at least 50% sustainable materials per tire by weight 1& [3].
  • Goodyear EcoReady® designed as a high-performing 70%[4] Sustainable-Material[5] tire that is engineered with soybean oil to reduce petroleum-based oil , high-quality rice husk ash silica to help reduce waste going to landfill and sustainably sourced natural rubber. This tire provides confident grip in rain or shine with an asymmetric tread design to provide stability in dry conditions and help maintain grip in wet conditions.
  • Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive ™ all-season tire offers comfort and performance with ComfortFlex Technology, designed for smoother transitions and impact absorption.
  • Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate™ line aimed at the ultra-high-performance market-drivers. Introduced in 2019, the Eagle Exhilarate is designed to offer better traction and handling for faster acceleration and more precise control, especially in wet weather.
  • Goodyear Eagle Enforcer All Weather™ police tire that provides year-round, responsive performance for police vehicles that handle demanding operating conditions.
  • 2 lines of Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse HT tires, a good choice for several all-terrain vehicles, including the Ford Explorer, Escape and F-Series; the Chevrolet Silverado, Traverse and Tahoe; the Toyota Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner; the GMC Acadia, Yukon and Sierra; and the Honda CR-V, Odyssey and Pilot.
  • Two lines of Commercial tires for transit buses: Goodyear Metro Miler – G152 and G652. Both tire models also feature technology designed to resist sidewall damage, enhance toughness and provide long tread life. Reinforced shoulders and steel sidewalls help deliver long casing life.
  • The Goodyear Endurance™ WHA is designed to keep waste haul fleets on the road longer with a dual-layer tread compound that helps optimize treadwear. Add to that, rolling resistance and a deep 24/32″ skid depth for long tread life. Additionally, the Endurance WHA comes with optional built-in DuraSeal Technology® that instantly seals tread punctures.
