USDA Proposes 14 Additional Items for Designation

Fourteen Items Proposed for Designation (Round 7)

On November 23, 2010, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a proposed rule (referred to as “Round 7”) to add 14 new items to the list of designated biobased items.   The following items are proposed: Animal repellents; bath products; bioremediation materials; compost activators and accelerators; concrete and asphalt cleaners; cuts, burns, and abrasions ointments; dishwashing products; erosion control materials; floor cleaners and protectors; hair care products; interior paints and coatings; oven and grill cleaners; slide way lubricants; and thermal shipping containers.

USDA is seeking public comment until January 24, 2011 on the proposed designation of these items, including the item definitions, proposed minimum biobased content for each item, and other issues.
